Commitment to Climate and Sustainability
On 25 November 2025, four students from the Klax School 'Our Happy Future' club took part in the Climate Future Conference at the Zeiss Grossplanetarium in Berlin. The event provided fascinating insights into climate, sustainability, and resource conservation, demonstrating the importance of engaging young people in matters that impact their future.
As part of the conference, the students attended various workshops with their learning mentor, Silke Schaper. In the 'Climate and Clothes' workshop, they critically examined the ecological footprint of the fashion industry, while the 'From Mine to Car – Discovering Raw Materials' workshop highlighted the global impact of our resource consumption.
Afterwards, the pupils explored the gallery of possibilities, where initiatives and organisations presented sustainable projects. Finally, they took part in a panel discussion that presented concrete options for climate protection action. One of the most impressive contributions came from Nuri Falkenberg, a student and active member of BaumEntscheid e. V., who played a key role in implementing the BäumePlus Act — the first German climate adaptation law — which was passed on 3 November 2025. His story demonstrated the significant impact that young people can have through commitment.
A particular highlight was the ‘Grün macht Schule’ quiz, in which our pupils won €200 to design the school playground. This will allow them to apply their knowledge to a sustainable project at the school. We are proud of our pupils' commitment and would like to congratulate them!
